RECIPIENTS

Taij and Victoria Edwards-Cotten of Perry-winkle Farm

Our 118th Real Farmer Care recipients are Taij and Victoria Edwards-Cotten @cotten_picked of Perry-winkle Farm @perrywinklefarm in Chatham County, North Carolina.

Taij and Victoria write, “After responding to a Craigslist ad for Valentine’s Day in 2017 at Preston Flower Shop, we were hooked on flowers. We QUIT our jobs and traveled the Piedmont region of North Carolina farming and talking with any farmer that had the time or space for us. We quickly realized we wanted to farm. Now farming alongside our mentors (or farm-ily) Michael Perry and Cathy Jones of Perry-winkle Farm, we help sustainably farm 4 acres of seasonal vegetables, specialty cut flowers and pastured laying hens. Perry-winkle Farm attends 3 markets: Fearrington Village (seasonally) and 2 Carrboro Farmers markets (Wednesday-seasonally and Saturday-year round). We reside in Chatham County with our two kids, Carleigh (6) and Titus (1). We’ve found ourselves on this journey - who we are and what our purpose is. Not only to be able to grow food for the community, but also to spread joy through flowers and arrangements.”
