Our 125th Real Farmer Care recipient is Jessica Tabon of The Black Yard Farm Cooperative @blackyardfarmcoop in Sloansville, NY. Jessica writes, “I am a farmer and educator at The Black Yard Farm Cooperative. I have 8 years of experience working at a plant nursery, landscape design company and at an environmental nonprofit in New York City. My vision with The Black Yard Farm Cooperative is to start and manage a flower farming operation that supports green spaces and plant conservation efforts as well as being a space to create awareness of the symbiotic relationship between humans and plants. Ultimately, I will work to provide tools for Black farmers, horticulturists, botanists, landscape architects and creatives to reconnect with the land and the magic of growing plants. One of the biggest challenges right now is access to start-up money given that I lack generational wealth. There is so much value in financial contributions and they have been and will continue to be a crucial part of the success of The Black Yard Farm Cooperative.” Support @blackyardfarmcoop GoFundMe campaign at link in their bio. #blackcooperatives #blackfarmercommons #blackfarmersmatter #blackfarmers #farmingwhileblack #supportblackfarmers #bipocfarmers #youngfarmers #realfarmercare
