The 347th recipient is Erica Sage Johnson of Petit Jardin @its.petit.jardin in New Orleans, LA. Erica writes:

What self-care and well-being mean to me as a farmer: “Self-care means remembering and embracing rest, and a little feminine luxury. Farming is hard, dirty, laborious work that I love. Everyday I tend to the land and often I put off that same care for myself. I still enjoy a manicure and I know my feet beg for a pedicure. My muscles are sore and I dream of a massage. Self-care means deliberately loving myself when I so effortlessly love over the land and my family.”
How I might use this $100 self-care award: “I would treat myself to a manicure and pedicure. Or I would get a massage. Both of these things help me remember that I’m human. I’m not just a workhorse. I’m not just a farmer, but I’m a woman; a soft woman that enjoys being pampered.”
Most important self-care needs that contribute to my well-being as a farmer: “The most important self-care I find as a farmer is eating nutritious meals, and staying hydrated. Ensuring I have solid work equipment that keeps my body safe. I know those don’t seem immediately like self-care, but they’re really important and for every day use and utility.”
