Dioganhdih writes, “My experience as an agriculturist has been profoundly humbling, intentionally reverent, and often a portal to the seed keeping my ancestors did with the same heirloom seeds. There’s excitement in reclamation of traditional Haudenosaunee food systems, but also a responsibility that aligns me to grounding in my purpose. Growing our traditional foods for our communities in our homelands is a part of cultural preservation and survival.
Being a farmer is a collective effort and involves reciprocal communal care. Having people around you who are experienced farmers has been helpful as I learn. Building community with other folks who are dedicated to loving land has been nourishing beyond belief.”
