The 194th recipient is Demi Tucker of The Uyoga Farm @theuyogafarm in Cary, NC. Demi writes, “My journey becoming a farmer has been one of sheer determination and self-teaching. I taught myself how to grow mushrooms as a hobby in 2019. I am a 5th generation farmer on family-owned land, and it means so much to continue the legacy. I aim to provide nutrition education and healthy food access to my surrounding community. Support can show up in a variety of ways; donating time, assisting with DIY projects, and even being an ear to vent to when times are rough. Prioritizing self-care and mental wellness is important because it allows one to show up whole and contribute greater to their community.”
